Sludge Dewatering Equipment

Sludge dewatering is a critical process in wastewater treatment, aimed at reducing the moisture content of sludge to minimize volume and facilitate disposal or further treatment. Below are three commonly used types of sludge dewatering equipment, each with distinct mechanisms and advantages:

Application Scenarios

  • Sludge dewatering in wastewater treatment plants

1. Plate and Frame Filter Press

The Plate and Frame Filter Press consists of alternating filter plates and filter frames that form a series of filter chambers. Sludge is pumped into these chambers under pressure. As pressure is applied, moisture in the sludge permeates through the filter cloth to the outside of the filter plates, while solid particles are retained within the chambers, forming a filter cake. This process effectively dewaters the sludge, achieving a moisture content as low as 60%-80%.

2. Belt Filter Press

The Belt Filter Press utilizes two tensioned filter belts that sandwich the sludge layer. As the belts move, they apply compressive and shear forces to the sludge, squeezing out capillary water and achieving dewatering. This equipment operates continuously, handling large volumes of sludge and capable of 24-hour uninterrupted operation, making it suitable for large-scale sludge treatment needs. The dewatering efficiency is high, typically reducing the sludge moisture content to 75%-85%.

3.Screw Press

The Screw Press features a filtering device composed of fixed and moving rings stacked together, with a screw shaft running through the center. As the screw rotates, the pitch gradually decreases, and the moving rings create increasing pressure on the sludge, forcing moisture out through the gaps between the fixed and moving rings. This design includes a self-cleaning function, reducing the risk of clogging and making it particularly effective for sludge with high solid content or high viscosity. Additionally, the equipment is compact, requiring less installation space.
